Help paying for your utilities

Federal, state and utility programs can lower your bills or help in an emergency. We explain which ones fit your situation and help you get your application ready.

LIHEAP

Free home upgrades, such as insulation and air sealing, that lower energy bills for eligible households.

A federal discount of up to $9.25 per month on phone or internet service for eligible households.

Official site

Low-cost internet plans

Many providers offer reduced-price plans for households on SNAP, Medicaid or similar programs. In New York, it’s required by law.

Payment plans & hardship funds

Utilities offer payment arrangements, budget billing and charity funds for customers going through a hard time.

Shutoff protections

Rules in many states limit disconnections during extreme weather or medical emergencies. Act quickly if you get a notice.

Applying to government assistance programs is always free. Approval and benefit amounts are decided by each agency.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Still have questions?

Talk to a real person in English or Spanish.

(786) 442-1946
How much does your service cost?

Your first consultation is free. If any service has a fee, we tell you clearly before we start. No surprises.

Are you a utility company or a government agency?

No. Nestify is an independent service company. We work on your behalf with utilities, internet providers and assistance agencies so you don’t have to do it alone.

Can I set up services without a Social Security number?

Often, yes. Many providers accept an ITIN, a passport or a security deposit instead. Requirements change by provider, and we explain the options for your address.

How long does setup take?

Electricity and water are often ready within one to a few business days. Gas needs a technician visit, and internet installation depends on the provider’s calendar. When possible, contact us at least a week before your move.

Who qualifies for assistance programs?

It depends on your state, household size and income. For example, LIHEAP usually serves households with incomes up to 150% of the federal poverty level or 60% of the state median income. We help you check quickly.

Which areas do you serve?

We help households throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, New York and Florida.
